Albury Little Athletics Centre has adopted the following policies

SMOKE-FREE POLICY

Albury Little Athletics Centre is aware that smoking endangers health and believes that all Little Athletics’ venues and functions should be smoke-free.
NO SMOKING inside the Alexandra Park Complex

SUN PROTECTION POLICY

The Albury Little Athletics Centre is aware that children are especially susceptible to the sun’s rays and that skin cancer can be prevented. Playing and watching sport, particularly outdoor sport, is part of the Australian way of life so it is important to slip, slop, slap and wrap.

HEALTHY FOOD CHOICE POLICY

Albury Little Athletics Centre is aware that healthy eating is a vital part of good health. We recognise that lifestyle diseases such as heart disease, stroke, certain cancers, non-insulin dependant diabetes and obesity are all associated with the food we eat.

RESPONSIBLE ALCOHOL MANAGEMENT

Albury Little Athletics Centre is aware that alcohol, when misused, can cause harm to the drinker and others. A responsible drinking policy has been adopted to reduce risks and avoid problems.

ANTI-DISCRIMINATION POLICY

The Victorian Little Athletics Association & Albury Little Athletics Centre are committed to eliminating discrimination in all forms within the organisation. VLAA and ALAC upholds the principle of equal opportunity and believes that Little Athletics must be accessible to all Australians without hindrance in any way or form.

A.L.A.C. SAFETY POLICY

Little Athletics has a lot to offer participants, including socialization, learning new skills, fitness, competition and fun. However, participation in any type of sport increases exposure to potential hazards and risks associated with participation. It is important to ensure the potential for injury and accidents are minimised.

  • Athletes and parents are not permitted to be in the centre-grassed area unless competing or helping.
  • Athletes are required to enter field events via the marked areas at the north and south ends of the track.
  • No field events will commence (this includes practice throws and jumps) without adult supervision.
  • Spikes must be removed at the completion of each event.

** Full details of the Albury Little Athletics Centre Healthy Lifestyle and Safety Policies are available at the office or www.alburylittleaths.org.au & must be strictly adhered to.

WHAT TO DO IF A CHILD IS INJURED

  • Ensure the environment is safe.
  • Comfort the child. Talk to them and reassure them.
  • If you suspect a broken bone, dislocation or spinal injury, don’t move the child.
  • Don’t leave the child. Ask another parent to call for the first aid officer.
  • Identify and notify the child’s parents.
  • If the injury is of a serious nature, contact Centre Secretary and follow Centre emergency procedure (see p.11 & 12 of VLAA safety plan).
  • If applicable, assist to complete the ‘Track & Field Injury Reporting Form’ (see p.13 of the VLAA Safety Plan).

INSURANCE:

Little Athletes are insured for medical & hospital expenses, less amounts covered from other sources. They are covered during all Centre activities including associated traveling.

Voluntary helpers are also insured providing they are Members of Albury Little Athletics Centre. Parents must complete the Register of Ordinary Members, a form available through the Centre.

NB: Ordinary members (helpers) who are over 80 years of age are not covered by the VLAA insurance for membership specifically noting the Sports Injury and Personal Accident insurance. Due to this ruling we are unable to accept help from anyone over the age of 80 years. The support you give to your child/children as a spectator is welcome and valued.
